SPINAL TRAUMA
Fractures of the Spine
Fracture of the spine can be classified into:
1. Stable fracture: If you have a stable fracture, the injury that broke your vertebrae didn’t push or pull them out of their usual place in your spine. You still need treatment, but you’re less likely to require surgical intervention, and;
2. Unstable spinal fractures: when the injury has moved your vertebrae out of their usual alignment. They’re more serious injuries than stable fractures because there’s a much higher chance you’ll need surgery to repair your broken vertebrae, and you’ll have a higher risk for dangerous complications that can affect your spinal cord.
Unstable fractures need urgent attention and in trauma or spine centres not in private clinics.
